Rangers sign ex-Cardinals 3.99 ERA reliever after release from Marlins

The Texas Rangers are preparing for a final push towards the postseason. On Tuesday, the AL West club made a new addition to its bullpen. According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, the Rangers have signed left-hander John King to a minor league contract. King, 31, was released by the Miami Marlins last week after he posted a 3.99 ERA in 50 appearances. King's contract with the Rangers was finalized last night, meaning the southpaw would be eligible to play in the postseason. "King would be a long shot to secure a spot on the playoff roster in either case. The southpaw was released by Miami last week. King had signed with the Fish on a $1.5MM free agent contract and pitched well for the first three months," Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors wrote.MORE: Cubs trade deadline add
