Rand Near Its Strongest in a Month as Brent Slips Below US$80

South Africa’s rand traded near R16.33 to the dollar on 6 August 2026, close to its strongest level in almost a month, as Brent crude slipped below US$80 a barrel and gold held above US$4,200. For a country that imports its oil and exports its metals, both moves point the same way.
