Procedure bypassed in leasing of State Urdu Academy’s 1.04 acre land to private company, says Hyderabad MP

The State government’s order issued by the Minorities Welfare Department, granting permission to lease out 1.04 acres of land to a private company for 30 years for the construction of Urdu Ghar-cum-Shadikhana and a commercial complex, has violated the prescribed procedure, alleged Hyderabad Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi.In an X post, he wrote: “The Secretary has no power to do so. Such a decision must be approved by the Chief Secretary after issuing a public notice and inviting suggestions and objections. This entire procedure has been bypassed.”The July 16 order, issued by Secretary B. Shafiullah, says the government accorded permission to the Director, Minorities Welfare, to grant a lease of the Telangana Urdu Academy’s land measuring 1.04 acres, or 5,220 sq. yards, in Survey No.
