Probe on into spotting of fake note bundle at Thoppumpady

The Thoppumpady police have launched a probe after recovering 106 counterfeit Indian currency notes of ₹500 denomination from near a bar at Thoppumpady in Kochi.The bundle of notes was found in an abandoned black pouch by a local resident on Thursday night. The man alerted the police who in turn confirmed that the notes were fake.The police registered a case on Friday and have started examining CCTV footage from the area and nearby locations.A detailed investigation is on to determine whether the counterfeit notes were intended for circulation, the police said.
