Population declines for 31st consecutive month
Taiwan’s population stood at 23,235,002 at the end of last month, falling for the 31st consecutive month, data released by the Ministry of the Interior yesterday showed.That was a decline of 102,934 from the same period last year, equivalent to an average daily decrease of 282.01 people. Compared with June, the population fell by 8,563.While the number of newborns last month rose to 7,906 last month, up 582 from June, the total number of babies born in Taiwan during the first seven months of the year was 54,250, down 10,064, or 15.7 percent, from 64,314 during the same period last year, the data showed.
