By Chung Li-hua, Gan Meng-lin and Jonathan Chin / Staff reporters, with staff writer As of yesterday, more than 1,400 people had signed a petition on the Public Policy Online Participation Network Platform calling for a ban on department stores requiring employees to work on typhoon holidays.The initiative has to gather 5,000 signatures before today for the government to comment on its potential adoption.Some department stores do not abide by the city or county government’s typhoon holiday declarations, the proposition’s sponsors wrote in its statement of purpose.
