Permanent solution sought for Belagavi traffic woes

M. Nagaraja, Rajya Sabha member, has raised the issue of traffic congestion in Belagavi city, during the Monsoon Session.Speaking here on Monday, he proposed the construction of an approximately 9-km elevated railway track on viaducts through the heart of Belagavi city.The project, he said, could help eliminate the traffic disruptions caused by level crossings and existing Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) within the city. “If implemented, the elevated railway system could significantly reduce congestion at railway gates while ensuring smoother movement of ambulances and other emergency services. It could also improve public safety, facilitate the movement of heavy vehicles and strengthen overall connectivity across the city,” said the retired engineering college professor.The project could furt
