People evacuated from homes after vehicle hits gas pipe in Scots town
Emergency services are at the scene (stock pic) (Image: Newsquest) This article is brought to you by our exclusive subscriber partnership with our sister title USA Today, and has been written by our American colleagues. It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald. People have been evacuated from their homes after a vehicle struck a gas pipe in a Scottish town. Police say houses have been evacuated "as a precaution" following the accident in Kilbirnie, North Ayrshire. Road closures are in place while emergency services deal with the incident. The town's Main Street, between Bank Street and the roundabout at Bridgend, is closed to traffic and members of the public are being asked to avoid the area. Locals have also been asked to keep their windows and doors closed where possible.
