After decade-long hiatus, the Philadelphia Cycling Classic wheeled its way through the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to Manayunk this weekend.The event, considered as one of the nation’s most storied races, has drawn cycling’s Olympians, national champions, and emerging talents to the city. The course is also a giant chessboard of strategy, aerodynamics, and aerobics.On Sunday, it saw Italian cyclist Chiara Consonni place first in the women’s classic, and Germany’s Tim Torn Teutenberg won the men’s classic in a thriller.For spectators, the event offered a unique opportunity in sports to see world-class competitors up close.
