Padres top prospect to become MLB's youngest catcher since 1991

The San Diego Padres revealed a major decision on Monday night. The AL West club has decided to promote its No. 1-ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline to the Majors. According to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, the Padres have promoted catcher Ethan Salas. Rosters expand from 26 to 28 players for the season's final month. Salas turned 20 in June and will be the youngest player in MLB. "With Ethan Salas reportedly being called up. He's 21 years, 91 days today," Sarah Langs wrote on X. "Whenever he appears in a game, he would be the youngest player to appear at catcher in a game since Ivan Rodriguez on Oct. 2, 1991, at 19y 309d."
