Over 30 students fall ill after having breakfast at Kalaburagi residential school; two shifted to GIMS

More than 30 students of the Morarji Desai Residential School at Karajagi village in Afzalpur taluk of Kalaburagi district reportedly fell ill after having breakfast on Thursday.The condition of two students was said to be serious.According to preliminary information, the students complained of stomach pain, vomiting and other symptoms of discomfort shortly after eating the food. They were initially provided first-aid at a local healthcare facility before being shifted to the Afzalpur taluk hospital.Two students, identified as Basavaraj and Karthik, whose condition was reported to be serious, were shifted to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Kalaburagi.Officials suspect that the students may have fallen ill after consuming avalakki (beaten rice).
