Over 20,500 file for candidacy ahead of general elections this year
Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court has received 20,530 applications for candidate registration for the general elections this year – 8,732 fewer than in 2022. The data were updated Tuesday morning (Aug. 18).
Of the total number of applications, 13,374 (65%) are from men, and 7,156 (35%), are from women. In addition, over 10,000 identified as white, and 2,576 identified as business owners.
