Oregon may charge tech firms for undersea cables to fund public schools
Oregon is introducing new fees for undersea cable installations near its coast. These charges will generate revenue for the state's public K-12 schools. Existing fees were established about twenty-five years ago and were much lower. The new rates aim to attract tech investment while ensuring compensation. This update follows a 2020 incident involving a cable construction project.
