OPINION - It’s parental panic time — my son is off to big school and I’m losing my little boy

I haven’t been able to verify this scientifically, but I am nevertheless beginning to realise that time can simultaneously speed up and slow down during the school summer holidays. As I write this, I am less than a day from sending my oldest son to secondary school for the first time. It is a change I am not ready for, in every imaginable sense.
