NYC officials want to rename street after beloved soldier killed by Iran: ‘She died for her country’

The beloved Queens soldier killed in an Iranian attack on a US base should have a street named after her, the borough president said Thursday — as her devastated mom sobbed, “She died for her country.” There’s a plan to honor Sgt. Angel Sarah Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park — killed Friday during the attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan — for her bravery on the street outside her family home, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards said. “She made the ultimate sacrifice,” Richards said at a press conference. “Angel was a hero, plain and simple. No matter what you think of this war, what is not up for debate is the bravery it takes to enlist like Angel did seven years ago.” Sgt.
