Nvidia employee detained over chip smuggling probe

US EXPORT CONTROLS: Seven suspects are being held as part of a probe into the shipment of advanced chips to China, Macau and Hong Kong Prosecutors have detained an Nvidia employee as part of an investigation into the smuggling of the US tech giant’s artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China, a source familiar with the case said yesterday.The man was detained after investigators raided his home and workplace on Friday last week, the Keelung District Prosecutors’ Office said in a statement, without mentioning Nvidia.He is suspected of offenses including “the falsification of business documents under the Criminal Code,” prosecutors said in a statement.
