Nigeria: Ahead of 2027 Elections - Youth Vote At Risk As 52% of Young Nigerians Unregistered

[CJID] As Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections, a significant number of young Nigerians may still be on the sidelines of the electoral process, with 52.1 per cent of respondents in a recent survey across 34 tertiary institutions saying they were not registered to vote. The figure rises to about 59 per cent among respondents aged 18 to 21, pointing to a major gap between Nigeria's large youth population and its participation in formal electoral processes.
