Next-gen HSR train arrives

By Wu Liang-yi and Jonathan Chin / Staff reporter, with staff writer Add TT as Preferred Source Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp (THSRC) yesterday received a N700ST high-speed train from Japan, the first in a set of 12 ordered by the state-supported corporation.The train arrived at the Port of Kaohsiung to fanfare, with THSRC chairman Shih Che (史哲) co-hosting an event celebrating its arrival at the port alongside senior government officials.Shih confirmed that THSRC is considering raising train fares for the first time in 20 years on July 1 next year, when the N700ST is anticipated to enter into service.
