Newcastle community come together to clean up West End

On Friday 17th July, members from across the community in the West End came together to tackle the rubbish that has littered their streets, parks and back alleys for the last few years. Led by young people in the community, who desire to make their streets cleaner and safer, the group tackled the local park near Canning Street. The issue of rubbish has been reported over the last few years by the Chronicle, with this Community Litter Picking Day being the latest in an attempt by those in the community to make a considerable change. The event was set up by the charity Triangular based in Gateshead, and were joined by young people, their families, representatives from the council and police, EPIC Charity and members of the Kurdish House volunteer group. The day saw around 70 volunteers come
