For hundreds of children walking to Mount Primary School in New Brighton, Dave York was the friendly face waiting at the crossing, a man who offered a smile, a wave, and a high-five every morning.‌To those who knew him, he was also the handyman who would always lend a helping hand, the neighbour who looked after those who needed him, and the kind-hearted character who became part of everyday life in the community.‌Dave, 76, died suddenly on July 14, having been on the school crossing just the day before, chatting to everyone as usual.‌Dave leaves behind his wife Jill, his two sons Tim and Jim, and six grandchildren, Ayd
