New 2026 rules for Brits visiting Italy explained - include umbrella ban
The rules cover a multitude of offences11:24, 07 Jul 2026Brits planning a trip to Italy this summer are being advised to double-check their tour bookings before they jet off, after the island of Capri introduced new rules for 2026 designed to tackle overcrowding, rowdy guided tours and persistent street touting. The island is home to around 13,000 permanent residents, yet can attract as many as 50,000 visitors a day at peak times. The most significant change affecting tourists is a fresh cap on organised tour groups. From this summer, guided groups on Capri are restricted to a maximum of 40 people, while groups of more than 20 must use wireless earpieces or headphones so that visitors can hear their guide without the need for loudspeakers.Large umbrellas, flags and other oversized markers
