Police were called to Grampian Tower in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, at 6am on Friday morning. They received a call which ‘reported significant concern for a man outside the block’. Officers found the man just outside the building where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Daryl Hall, 36, told the BBC: ‘What I heard was a big bang followed by loads of screaming and shouting.
