Nationals part ways with former Yankees 14.73 ERA reliever

The Washington Nationals have made a notable roster move before Sunday's series finale against the New York Yankees. The NL East club announced that first baseman Abimelec Ortiz was called up from Triple-A Rochester. Ortiz will take the roster spot of left-hander Matt Krook, who was designated for assignment, per Washington's announcement. The 24-year-old was acquired from the Texas Rangers in the trade that sent MacKenzie Gore to Texas. Ortiz, born in Puerto Rico, will be making his Major League debut today.
