'Most beautiful little boy': Young child who died in Aranui dog attack named

The young child who died in a dog attack in a Christchurch suburb has been named as one-year-old Sonny-Charles Watson.Police were called to a house on Basingstoke Street just before 5pm on Friday.His parents say he was the light of their lives."Sonny was not just the light of our lives but everyone he came in contact with. The most beautiful little boy, full of love and laughter for everyone. Shine bright our ray of sunshine," they said in a statement.Detective Senior Sergeant Daniel Overend says police are supporting the family as they navigate their loss and have asked for their privacy to be respected."Police extend their deepest sympathies to Sonny's family, friends, and all those who knew and loved him during this immensely difficult time."
