Mortgage-financed home purchases account for over half of Romania's residential transactions

27 July 2026 More than half of Romania's residential property transactions are now financed through mortgage loans, with the share rising significantly over the past four years, according to an analysis by online mortgage broker Ipotecare.ro based on official data. Nationally, mortgage-backed purchases accounted for just over 57% of residential transactions in the first half of 2026.
