More traffic delays and road closures across Liverpool

There will be more diversions and closures in place08:36, 15 Aug 2026Roadworks are already causing major delays to transport routes across Merseyside, and there are set to be further delays and road closures this weekend to accommodate music festivals. According to information previously published by the ECHO, and covering the period between August 3 to August 10, there are more than 1,000 roadwork projects planned across the city, ranging from high- to low-impact, including 111 projects which will require some road closures.‌Traffic restrictions for the annual Salt and Tar music festival in Bootle are currently in place, concluding on Monday, August 17. Irlam Road will be closed for the event's duration along with a diversion route from Merton Road. The restrictions will be lifted at 11pm
