Ministry to discuss employment stability subsidies
By Jake Chung / Staff writer, with CNA Add TT as Preferred Source The Ministry of Labor on Wednesday said it would convene a meeting to determine whether subsidies intended to mitigate the impact of US tariffs on the Taiwanese labor market would continue.There were 245 companies and 3,026 employees relying on subsidies under employment stability measures, of which 192 companies and 2,564 employees are directly affected by the US tariffs, ministry data showed.The ministry said it would use statistics reflecting the end of last month to determine whether the measures would continue, and to discuss whether they should start retroactively from Aug. 1.
