Ministry outlines insurance coverage for delivery drivers
By Chung Li-hua and Esme Yeh / Staff reporters The Ministry of Labor has unveiled the mandatory minimum insurance coverage for group accident insurance and liability insurance offered by delivery platform operators to delivery workers.Foodpanda and Uber Eats, two major food delivery platforms in Taiwan, yesterday suspended their services in 20 cities and counties after work and classes were suspended due to Typhoon Bavi.The Delivery Workers Rights Protection and Delivery Platform Management Act (外送員權益保障及外送平台管理法) is to come into effect on July 21 and food delivery platforms would be mandated to provide insurance for food delivery workers, the ministry said.
