Mettur dam likely to be opened by Tamil Nadu CM Vijay on August 28; Salem Collector holds inspection

This year, Cauvery water could not be released from Mettur Dam for irrigation in Delta districts on the customary date of June 12 due to inadequate storage. Announcement on the likelihood of Mr. Vijay opening the dam at Salem on August 28 is expected shortly.
