Mets trade idea sends All-Star pitcher to Padres for 3.07 ERA top prospect

With two weeks remaining until the trade deadline, there aren't many obvious sellers in the Majors. However, the New York Mets are one of them. Mets players on expiring contracts will almost certainly be moved. That includes right-hander Freddy Peralta, who has not had a strong season in Queens. "Peralta has had a disappointing season for the Mets, posting a 4.66 ERA with a career-high 1.438 WHIP before the All-Star break," The Athletic's Jim Bowden wrote Monday. "He’s a free agent at the end of the season, and there has been no momentum toward negotiating a contract extension."
