Mets cut ties with former top-100 prospect who spent 4 seasons with Red Sox

The New York Mets recently cut ties with a former top-100 prospect, an infielder who has seven Major League seasons under his belt. He last played in the Majors in 2023 with the Boston Red Sox, the final year of his four seasons with the AL East club. According to the MiLB transactions log, the Mets have released second baseman Christian Arroyo. Arroyo, who can also shift to shortstop and third base, first joined the Mets last offseason and re-signed in June after his first release. In 261 plate appearances at Triple-A Syracuse, the 31-year-old hit .279/.331/.435, solid numbers despite some injury trouble. The best season of Arroyo's big league career was in 2021, when he became a regular in Boston's infield and hit six home runs with a .769 OPS.MORE: MLB experts voted Red Sox's Adley Ruts
