Mets cut ties with former Guardians infielder after Christopher Morel decision
The New York Mets have made a pair of roster moves before Monday's series opener against the San Diego Padres. It was previously reported that infielder Christopher Morel's contract was selected from Triple-A Syracuse. This afternoon, the Mets announced who Morel is replacing on the active roster. According to the NL East club's X post, fellow infielder Gabriel Arias was designated for assignment. Arias' time with the Mets at the Major League level was brief. He appeared in just two games following his DFA from the Cleveland Guardians, the organization he spent the first four and a half seasons of his career with.
