Mets add 26 home run utilityman to roster before Padres series
The New York Mets have reportedly made a roster move before Monday's series opener against the San Diego Padres. According to Mike Rodriguez of Rompiendo Sports, the Mets have selected Christopher Morel's contract from Triple-A Syracuse. "According to my sources, Dominican Christopher Morel has been called up to the Major Leagues by the New York Mets," Rodriguez wrote on X. "Morel was hitting .309 with an impressive 1.033 OPS in the Minor Leagues." Morel, 27, began the season with the Miami Marlins, but he was designated for assignment after hitting just .162 with a .425 OPS and 28 strikeouts in 73 trips to the plate. New York agreed to a minor league contract with the five-year veteran toward the end of June. He hit .321 with 12 homers in 123 plate appearances at Triple-A Syracuse. MORE:
