The Met Office has not ruled out further heatwaves13:21, 22 Jul 2026After three heatwaves so far in 2026, the Met Office has issued a verdict on further hot weather, as parts of the UK cool down this week.It comes as a prolonged period of dry weather is still ongoing across large parts of the UK, with hosepipe bans or water restrictions in force for millions of people across the country.Met Office figures show that south-east England has seen the longest unbroken spell of no recorded rainfall for more than 30 years, with an average of zero rainfall has been measured across the organisation’s weather stations in the region for 17 days in a row.
