Mentally ill man murdered by uncle and cousin, police says

A mentally challenged man was killed after being attacked with a sharp weapon, allegedly by his cousin and uncle, following a dispute over land in Kotchandpur, Jhenaidah, this morning.The deceased was identified as Md Tabibar Rahman, 45, of Mallikpur village, said Azad Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotchandpur Police Station.Md Sabujur Rahman, member of Ward No 3 of Dora union parishad, told The Daily Star that Tabibar had been suffering from mental illness for more than 10 years and used to roam around carrying a stick.There had been a long-running dispute between the families of Tabidar and his uncle over land, the OC said.He said that around 6:45am at Darir Pol Field, Tabibar allegedly made offensive remarks to his aunt, following which his uncle and cousin attacked him.
