Man shot after female police officer stabbed in the neck during confrontation in Australia

A female police officer was stabbed in the neck and her alleged attacker shot in the leg during a daylight confrontation on a busy road in Adelaide, Australian police have said. Officers were called to reports of a man running along Main North Road in Elizabeth East in the northern suburbs of the South Australian city, armed with a knife at about 11am on Wednesday. As they moved to confront him, a female officer was stabbed in the neck and the 27-year-old suspect was shot in the leg by the police.Both were taken to the hospital. The officer's injuries were serious but not life-threatening, South Australia Police said. The man's injuries were also not thought to be life-threatening.
