Man sentenced to 7 years’ imprisonment for sexually assaulting minor girl

A Chikkamagaluru court on Wednesday convicted a man of sexually assaulting a minor girl and sentenced him to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment, besides imposing a fine of ₹45,000.Nagaraj, 34, a resident of Tarikere taluk, was accused of sexually assaulting a minor in December 2025. The Lingadahalli police registered the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and filed the charge-sheet after investigation.The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Chikkamagaluru, who heard the case, sentenced the accused to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹45,000.
