Man secures protection order against adult daughters after living in fear, court hears

A man has secured protection orders against two of his adult daughters. The man told the family District Court complex in Dolphin House that he “should have done it years ago” and that they all live together in the family home. He said one of his daughters had pushed him in the past and he was afraid she would “use violence” if he was to move her clothes, which are “all over the place”. The man said his other daughter had threatened him and also put him in fear. He said he had to call gardaí a number of times over the years because of their behaviour and they had advised him to seek protection from the courts. Judge Tom MacSharry granted the man protection orders against both of his daughters on an ex-parte (one side represented only) basis and said he was “sorry you’re in this position”.
