Man killed in elephant attack in Ooty

A 70-year-old man was killed in a wild elephant attack at Kariysholai in the Bitherkad forest range in Gudalur on Saturday morning.Forest officials identified the deceased as M. Balasubramaniam, who worked at a private coffee estate in the area. At the time of the incident, there was thick fog, which limited visibility and contributed to the negative human-elephant interaction, officials said.Balasubramaniam suffered serious injuries in the elephant attack and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
