Man gets 20-year jail term in POCSO case in Rajamahendravaram

The Kakinada special court for POCSO cases on Tuesday (August 25, 2026) sentenced 29-year-old Chirra Anand Kumar to 20 years of imprisonment for raping a minor girl within the Rajanagaram police limits in East Godavari district. The court also imposed a fine of ₹5,000 in the case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. In an official release, East Zone DSP A.T.V. Ravi Kumar stated that Anand Kumar had raped the 16-year-old minor under the pretext of marrying her. The victim lodged a complaint in 2021 after he refused to marry her.
