Man dies after car hits tree in Woolton

Emergency services were called shortly after 9.15am on Saturday, August 1 following reports that a red Skoda Fabia car had collided with a tree on Woolton Road in Woolton.‌The driver, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. A section of Woolton Road is closed near Allerton Towers to allow for ongoing investigative work. Drivers have been asked to avoid the area where possible and seek alternative routes.‌The road is expected to re-open this afternoon.
