Man dies after being bitten by ‘dangerously out of control’ dog

The unnamed man, 55, was injured on an abandoned railway line off Blacker Lane in Calder Grove, near the village of Crigglestone, at 1.30pm. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died just after 7pm. Police issued an appeal today asking two people who helped the wounded man, one of whom is named Sophie, to come forward.
