Man convicted for forgery, counterfeiting govt. stamps, seals in Shivamogga

A Shivamogga court on Wednesday convicted a man of forging government documents and counterfeiting stamps and seals, and sentenced him to five years’ rigorous imprisonment besides imposing a fine of ₹17,000.Vishnubhakta, 39, who ran a computer centre on ANK Road in the city, was accused of fraudulently creating fake documents and forged government stamps and seals of various government departments, and using them at different government offices and banks, causing losses to the government offices and banks concerned.The Jayanagar police had registered a case of cheating, forgery and counterfeiting of stamps against him based on a complaint filed in 2021.
