Man beaten, slashed in Greater Grand Crossing homicide

Detectives are searching for an assailant responsible for a beating and slashing attack that left a 59-year-old man dead Thursday morning in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. The man, 59, was found unresponsive in the 300 block of West 76th Street around 5:10 a.m. with cuts and trauma to his face, Chicago police said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said. Area 2 detectives were investigating.
