Man admits strangling his mum at home before calling police to confess

Richard Clayton, 45, admitted to killing 74-year-old Angela Clayton and later calling the police to report himself. Clayton had strangled her at their home in Newham, east London, on Tuesday, February 17. Officers arrived on scene at 12.48pm alongside the London Ambulance Service, where they pronounced Mrs Clayton dead at the scene. Clayton was taken to custody and either answered no comment or remained silent and pretended to be asleep during interviews. He was charged with murder the following day.
