Malnad districts receive heavy rain

Dinesh Many parts of the Malnad received heavy rains on Sunday, disrupting normal life. There were reports of landslips and flooding in many places and the rivers are in spate in the region.The rivers in the region have swollen leaving the people in the banks in fear. Tirthahalli taluk administration has shifted the families located on the Tunga bank in the town to a temporary care centre at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan in the town. Many areca plantations have been flooded.The Malnad region received an average of 100 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours that ended at 8.30 a.m on Sunday against the normal of 39 mm, registering 159% of departure from normal.
