Maintain law and order in Mandya over Cauvery issue, says Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar

Shivakumar on Tuesday directed officials to ensure that law and order is maintained in Mandya district in view of the Cauvery water issue and to prevent any untoward incident.During a video conference with government officials and employees from all districts, Mr. Shivakumar told Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumar and Superintendent of Police Shobha Rani that the decision on how much water should be released to Tamil Nadu was the responsibility of the State government, while maintaining law and order in Mandya was the responsibility of the district administration and police.He said it was not possible to retain water indefinitely and that it would flow out if the Kabini reservoir reached full capacity.
