M6 traffic stopped with animals on road

Vehicles were being held north of Wigan this morning (August 1).All traffic was stopped on the northbound carriageway between junctions 27 at Standish and 28 at Leyland. According to the Inrix traffic monitoring service, a rolling road block was in place.An image from the scene showed a large queue of stationary traffic approaching the area.
