The motorway was shut just after 1.30am on Monday morning due to a serious 'police incident'.The motorway was shut for over eight hours following the incident, which saw the eastbound carriageway between junction 14 for Chester Services to junction 12 for Runcorn, closed off.In a post just before 6am, National Highways said on X: "Update 3: M56 eastbound in Cheshire between J14 (Ellesmere Port) & J12 (Runcorn). - Remains closed for @cheshirepolice led incident collision investigations. - Currently no significant delays on approach."Click her
