Locals foil alleged rape attempt of 9-year-old girl in Patuakhali

Locals in Dumki upazila of Patuakhali caught a man while he was allegedly trying to rape a nine-year-old girl and handed him over to police today.The accused Sohag Hawlader, 25, is of Pangashia village, said Dumki Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Selim Uddin.The incident took place around 1:30pm in Pangashia area of the upazila.Police and locals said the girl was returning home from a madrasa when Sohag grabbed her near a sawmill, forcibly took her to a bush and tried to rape her.At that time, an auto-rickshaw driver noticed the incident and stopped his vehicle and raised alarm. People nearby rushed to the spot and detained Sohag.When locals informed police, a team from Dumki Police Station went to the spot, arrested Sohag and took him into custody.The OC said the allegations
